Code Golf is a nerdy game in which participants strive to achieve the shortest possible code that implements a certain algorithm. If that sounds really nerdy, it's because it is. The name stems from the similarity with Golf in that participants try to achieve the least amount of keystrokes to solve a problem (or hole).
In summary: it's a nerdy competitive game for nerds.
